STRAKE / Pronounced “strayk”

A name from
an old craft.

A strake was a curved iron section fitted around a wooden wheel. A small part, with a clear job to do.

Why STRAKE

The wheel is
part of the car.

Body lines, paint, tyres and ride height set the context. The wheel should fit that picture, from a low street car to a coupe built for the circuit.

The name and the mark

Metal. Curvature.
A purpose.

Several iron strakes formed the wearing surface of a wooden wheel, held in place by substantial nails. The segmented rim and opposing nail-head shapes in our mark come from that history.
